In this page, “StoryClever”, “we” or “us” means Joseph Kalolo, a parent based in Tanzania. “You” means the adult who creates an account and the family who uses it. You can reach us at jtriph@icloud.com.

1. Disclaimer

Made by a parent, to help children learn

StoryClever was created by a parent, not a qualified teacher or professional educator, to support children’s learning at home. It is offered in good faith as an enrichment and practice resource, meant to support, not replace, formal schooling or a teacher’s guidance.

No guarantee of results

Every child learns differently. We cannot and do not guarantee any particular academic result, grade, or exam outcome.

Use with an adult

StoryClever is designed to be used by a child with a parent or guardian’s guidance. The answer guides are indicative only, a child’s own words are perfectly acceptable when the idea is right.

Curriculum mapping, a guide, not certification

We map our stories to the Cambridge Primary framework as our own best effort, and it may contain mistakes. StoryClever is independent: it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or certified by Cambridge University Press & Assessment, or any school, exam board, or education authority. “Cambridge” and “Cambridge Primary” are trademarks of their respective owners, used here only to describe the framework we follow. Always check your own child’s school curriculum and requirements.

Not professional advice

Nothing on StoryClever is professional educational, psychological, medical, or other advice. If you have concerns about your child’s learning or development, please speak to their teacher or a qualified professional.

Provided “as is”

Content may contain errors and is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. We’re grateful for corrections, please email jtriph@icloud.com and we’ll fix them.

2. Terms & Conditions

2.1 Agreeing to these terms

By creating an account or using StoryClever, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please don’t use the service. We may update these terms from time to time; the current version will always be posted here, and continuing to use StoryClever means you accept the update.

2.2 Who may use StoryClever, and parental consent

Accounts may only be created by an adult (18 or over) who is a parent or legal guardian. By creating an account and adding a child profile, you confirm that you are that child’s parent or legal guardian, that you consent to their use of StoryClever, and that you consent on their behalf to the collection and use of their information as described in our Privacy Policy below. Children should only use StoryClever under adult supervision.

2.3 Your account

Please give accurate information and keep your password private. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account and your children’s profiles. Tell us promptly at jtriph@icloud.com if you think your account has been used without your permission.

2.4 What you may do with the content

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use StoryClever and to print its worksheets and stories for your own family’s home use. You may not resell, redistribute, publish, or share the content publicly, or use it commercially (for example, in a paid class or another product) without our written permission.

2.5 Our content

The stories, worksheets, designs, and other materials on StoryClever belong to us or are used with permission. Third-party items, such as any 3D models, remain the property of their creators and are used under their own licences, which are credited where they appear.

2.6 Subscriptions and payment

StoryClever does not currently offer paid plans. When paid plans launch, this section will be updated to set out pricing, the currency, the payment provider, and renewal, cancellation, and refund terms. At that point: prices will be shown exclusive of any local taxes unless stated; where we are required to collect a tax such as VAT or GST for your country, it will be shown and added at checkout; otherwise you are responsible for any taxes or duties that apply where you live.

2.7 Cancelling a paid subscription

Where the law of your country gives consumers a cooling-off or cancellation right for online purchases (for example, 14 days in the UK and EU), that right applies. Because StoryClever is digital content that can be used immediately, by starting to use a paid plan straight away you ask us to begin at once and acknowledge you may lose that cancellation right once access has begun. Nothing here removes rights your local law says cannot be removed.

2.8 Acceptable use

Please don’t try to break, copy, scrape, or misuse the service, or use it in any unlawful way. We may suspend or close accounts that do.

2.9 Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, StoryClever is provided “as is”, and we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from its use. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have that cannot be limited by law. If we are found liable despite this, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us (if anything) in the 12 months before the claim.

2.10 Ending your use

You may stop using StoryClever and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end the service, or a particular account, where reasonably necessary (for example, for misuse or to retire the product).

2.11 Using StoryClever from outside Tanzania

StoryClever is operated by a parent based in Tanzania and is provided from Tanzania. You are welcome to use it from anywhere, but you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for complying with the laws of your own country, including any local rules on online services, consumer protection, data protection, and tax. We do not represent that StoryClever is appropriate or available for use in every location. Where your local law gives you mandatory rights that cannot be waived, nothing in these terms removes them.

2.12 Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Tanzania, and disputes will be dealt with by the courts of Tanzania, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer rights you have under the law of your own country.

3. Privacy Policy

We keep data to the minimum needed to run the service, and we never sell it or show advertising.

3.1 What we collect

  • From the parent: your email address and a password (stored only in encrypted/“hashed” form, never as plain text).
  • About each child (entered by you): a first name and optional nickname, and a stage or age band. We ask for as little as possible and do not require a surname.
  • Learning activity: progress such as stars, streaks, and quick-check results, so we can save progress and show you a report.
  • Basic technical data: a login “cookie” so you stay signed in, and standard server logs.

3.2 Why we collect it

To create and secure your account, save your children’s progress, personalise what each child sees, show you progress reports, and, if you use a paid plan in future, manage your subscription.

3.3 Children’s data

Children’s information is provided by you, the parent or guardian, and stays under your control. You can view, correct, or delete it at any time from your family settings or by emailing us. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children, and we do not use children’s data for advertising or profiling beyond showing age-appropriate learning content.

3.4 Who can see it

We do not sell or rent your data. We use a small number of trusted providers to run the service: our hosting and data storage is provided by Netlify. When paid plans launch, a payment provider will process payments on our behalf and will be named here. These providers process data on our behalf under their own security terms.

3.5 Where your data is processed

StoryClever runs on internet infrastructure that may store and process data on servers in countries outside your own, for example, our host operates data centres in various regions. By using StoryClever you understand that your and your children’s data may be handled in this way. We use providers that offer appropriate security and data-protection safeguards.

3.6 Keeping it safe & how long we keep it

We protect data with encryption in transit (HTTPS) and by hashing passwords. We keep your data for as long as your account is active, and delete it within a reasonable period after you close your account or ask us to.

3.7 Your rights

You may ask us to show, correct, export, or delete your and your children’s data, or to close your account. Contact jtriph@icloud.com. We aim to handle personal data in line with Tanzania’s Personal Data Protection Act, 2022. If you use StoryClever from the EU, UK, or USA, additional local rules, such as the GDPR’s provisions on children’s data, or COPPA, may give you further rights, and we will honour valid requests.

3.8 Changes

If we change this notice, we’ll post the new version here with an updated date.
