The Photograph

Tryphonia found a faded photograph (a printed picture) in a drawer, and suddenly she was somewhere else entirely.

Two years earlier. The story jumps back in time, this is a flashback (a scene from the past dropped into the present). Little Tryphonia stood on a stage, knees shaking, about to recite a poem.

She had forgotten the words. The hall went silent. Then Grandfather, in the front row, gave a slow, calm nod, and the words came flooding back.
