The Ice Lolly and the Missing Puddle

On a hot day, Papa gave Emily an orange ice lolly (a frozen ice treat on a stick). It was hard and cold, a solid (something that keeps its own shape).

Emily was slow to eat it. Drip… drip… The hard lolly began to turn into a sticky orange liquid (something runny that pours and takes the shape of its cup). “It’s melting (changing from solid to liquid)!” she cried.

4. Find one solid, one liquid and one gas in your home right now.

For example, a book is a solid, water is a liquid, and the air around us is a gas.
