4 and 1 make 5.

2. 3 and 2 make…?

3 and 2 make 5.

✓ Understood if the child says five.

3. Can you find another way to make five?

Yes, for example 5 and 0, or 2 and 3. Any two parts that join to five.

✓ Understood if the child offers another correct pair, e.g. 5+0 or 2+3.

Maths Moment: The pairs that make five are 0+5, 1+4, 2+3 (and the same reversed); however five toys are split between two hands, the two parts add back to five.
