Ten Little Toes

After her bath, Daisy sat on the towel. “Let's count your toes!” said Papa.

Papa touched the first toe. “One!” Then the next. “Two, three, four, five!” That was one foot.

“Now the other foot,” said Papa. “Six, seven, eight, nine…

TEN!” shouted Daisy. Pepper barked, ten was his favourite too, Daisy was sure.

Ten toes! Daisy counted them again, slow and proud, all the way to ten.

“Ten toes to wiggle and ten to keep warm,” laughed Papa, pulling on her socks.
